According to police, the car went through the back of an apartment and into the living room.

GLASSBORO -- Two men were arrested after a hit-and-run crash into Campus Crossings apartments, police say.

On Monday, around 3:15 a.m., Glassboro officers were sent to Campus Crossings for a report of a vehicle crash into a building. The report also stated that two white males left the vehicle and fled the scene.

Once on the scene, officers discovered that a vehicle had knocked down a wooden fence and crashed through an apartment, going into the living room and causing substantial damage to the building, however no one was in the apartment at the time.

According to police, as they investigated the two males that had fled the scene initially returned. Thomas Walters, 20, of Yardville, was identified as the driver, and attempted to flee the scene again after seeing the officers.

He was taken into custody after being chased by police on foot. The passenger of the vehicle, Patrick K. Carter, 19, of Yardville, was detained without incident.

Walters was charged with driving while intoxicated and other motor vehicle offenses, possession of marijuana under 50 grams, and obstruction. Carter was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, possession of false government document, and a borough ordinance violation for underage possession/consumption of alcohol.

According to police, both subjects were released on summonses.
