A Gibbstown man accused of assaulting police officers and punching a K9 after his car hit a house was indicted this week.
WOODBURY -- A Gibbstown man accused of assaulting police officers and punching a K9 after his car hit a house was indicted this week, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office.
Anthony Difelice, 24, of Gibbstown, was charged with multiple offenses in East Greenwich following a car accident Wednesday evening. Police responded to Harmony Road on June 17 to find Anthony Difelice, 24, at the wheel of a vehicle that struck a home. Officers detected a strong smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle as they approached, according to a police report at the time.
A passenger in the vehicle, Kerrianne Perkins, 20, of Wenonah, told the officers that both of them had been smoking marijuana laced with PCP for several days and that Difelice should be arrested, authorities said.
As police tried to take Difelice into custody, he resisted and Perkins tried to interfere in the arrest. Difelice allegedly punched two officers and a police K9. As the officers tried to defend themselves, the K9 inadvertently bit Difelice on the right forearm, police said.
Difelice was finally taken into custody, but as EMTs tried to tend to his arm injury, he began to kick and spit on them.
Difelice and Perkins were then transported for medical treatment. Perkins was issued a summons for obstruction of justice.
Difelice was indicted by a Gloucester County grand jury on charges including third-degree resisting arrest, third-degree aggravated assault, fourth-degree aggravated assault/simple assault on a law enforcement officer and fourth-degree throwing bodily fluids at a Department of Corrections employee.
