WOODBURY -- Authorities are looking for a Westville woman who failed to appear in court on a forgery charge, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office.
Katelyn Shields, 20, of Edgewater Avenue, is 5 feet 5 inches tall, 120 pounds, with hazel eyes and brown hair.
In May 2014, a man told Woodbury Police that he received two fraudulent checks for $100 from Shields.
Shields allegedly told the victim that she needed the money quickly and could not wait for the checks to clear, according to the prosecutor's office.
The victim withdrew $100 from an ATM and give it to Shields, while he deposited the checks in his account.
He later learned that the checks had been stolen, that the account they were drawn on was closed and that the account holder was dead. Shields allegedly told the victim that she borrowed the checks from an aunt.
Forgery complaints were signed against Shields in June 2014 and she was indicted the following month on two counts of third-degree forgery.
Anyone who knows her whereabouts should not attempt to apprehend her. Instead, contact the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office at 856-384-5643, GCPO Sgt. Ron Koller at 609-929-6348 or email tips@co.gloucester.nj.us.
