A Clayton man was arrested early this morning after he allegedly crashed a stolen car into a trailer and fled from police.
GLASSBORO -- A Clayton man was arrested early this morning after he allegedly crashed a stolen car into a trailer then fled from police.
Authorities responded to South Delsea Drive and Maple Leaf Court shortly after midnight for a report of a collision between a vehicle and a trailer parked off the roadway.
Glassboro officers found the driver, later identified as Jason McHugh, 32, fleeing on foot toward a wooded area. Police set up a perimeter and Cpl. Rick Watt announced that he would release his K-9, Akiles, if McHugh didn't exit the woods and surrender. Moments later, McHugh complied with Watt's orders.
Further investigation revealed McHugh was driving a vehicle reported stolen in Middle Township, police said.

McHugh was transported to a hospital for evaluation because of the auto accident was later released.
He was charged criminally with possession of stolen property, obstruction of justice and resisting arrest. He was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report, unlicensed driver and driving while suspended.
Bail was set at $7,500 and McHugh was placed in Salem County Correctional Facility.
Additional charges are pending completion of the investigation, police said.
