DEPTFORD TWP. -- It was a celebratory day for the Adult Center for Transition (ACT) students, faculty and staff as the Rowan College at Gloucester County (RCGC) campus community were joined by state and county dignitaries to officially open the new 14,526 square-foot Adult Center for Transition building on Sept. 22.
Located on the college grounds adjacent to the Bankbridge Development Center, the one-story $4 million building was funded through the state's Higher Education Facilities Trust, part of the Higher Education Bond referendum approved by New Jersey voters in 2012.
Designed to assist with the transition of care for special needs students from the public educational system to adult living, the curriculum focuses on developing communication, socialization and independence skills for young adults after high school. Completed in April, the state-of-the-art facility includes classroom and observation rooms, a vocational training room and workshop area, computer lab, warming kitchen, nurse's office and multi-purpose room.

Rowan College at Gloucester County is located at 1400 Tanyard Road in Deptford, just off Exit 56 of Route 55. The Adult Center for Transition is located on the RCGC campus at 530 Salina Road in Deptford Township.
