Gavyn Connolly, 15, was hit by a car while crossing Route 42 Saturday night.
WASHINGTON TWP. -- The teenager who was hit by a car while walking across Route 42 Saturday night has died from injuries sustained in the accident, according to Township police.
Gavyn Connolly, 15 of Sicklerville, was crossing the southbound lanes near the Greentree Road intersection shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday when she was hit by a 2011 Toyota Yaris being driven by 21-year-old Sterling Knight, a Stratford resident.
She was rushed to Cooper Hospital where she was pronounced dead just after 3 p.m. Monday, Washington Township Police Capt. Dennis Sims said. Knight was not injured in the crash.
The accident is still under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
Gavyn was a student at Timber Creek Regional High School. A carnival hosted by a booster club for Washington Township's football program was taking place in a parking lot close to where the accident occurred. Police do not know if Gavyn was attending the carnival at the time.
