Communities connect to help South Jersey's youth

Mentoring Conference at St. Matthew's in Williamstown

MONROE TWP. -- St. Matthew's has partnered with the Township Mayors of Williamstown and Winslow, and other local leaders to host the Community Connections Mentoring Conference: Youth and Family Day on Saturday, April 23 at 10 a.m. The event will be held at St. Matthew's, 245 Glassboro Road in Williamstown.

Families will enjoy a fun free event focusing on the value of mentoring inclusive of three-on-three basketball tournaments, outdoor activities, face painting, photos with special guests, performances from local high schools, chess competition and even a presentation by the Monroe Township Police K-9 unit.

Also available are parent workshops with topics on advocating for your youth, preparing youth early for life after high school and so much more. Bring friends, family, and neighbors of all ages to enjoy the days' festivities. 

The focus of this event is to emphasize the value of mentorship, young people will hear the voices of their peers expressing the value of mentorship from first-hand experiences. Also, we will share with them the local venues in the area that have opportunities for mentorship and provide a positive support system that will help them reach their goals. 

This Mentoring Conference is a collaborative event sponsored by Chic Fil A, St. Matthew's Community Development Center under the leadership of Dr. Raymond M. Gordon Sr., Monroe Township under the leadership of Mayor Daniel Teefy, Winslow Township under the leadership of Mayor Barry Wright, and The D.O.T. Organization under the leadership of Bobby Harris.
