GREENWICH TWP. -- A fight led to the arrest of a Guatemalan National after he allegedly attempted to assault a woman with a machete, according to police.
Officers were called to the 1200 block of Berkley Road at around 10:30 p.m. on March 14 for reports of a man wielding a machete toward a female victim before fleeing the area in a silver van.
An 18-inch machete was found at the scene and police officers in neighboring East Greenwich Township were able to identify the suspected van about 10 minutes later.
Feliciano Hernandez, 35, was arrested and charged with making terroristic threats, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes. The investigation showed Hernandez is an undocumented immigrant from Guatemala.
He was held in Salem County Jail in default of $50,000 full cash bail.
