David Levin writes that the establishment can't deny the front-runner once he has the numbers behind him

To the Editor:

Now that the March 15 primary elections are over, Donald Trump has a substantial lead in total delegates to the Republican National Convention in Cleveland starting July 18.

Building this lead hasn't been easy for Trump, as an outsider from the Republican Party establishment. In fact, the mainstream party bosses are doing everything possible to make Trump's bid for the presidential nomination fail.

Is the party hierarchy oblivious to the fact that the voters in the primaries and caucuses have given Trump the commanding lead? Do the primary voters really have a say in who will represent their political party?

If Trump is able to secure the 1,237 delegates needed for the nomination, the party should accept the will of the voters and support his candidacy.

Doing slow burn over N.J. industry's smoke

To the Editor:

Once again, as I look out my window on March 15, I see the sky being filled with black smoke over Paulsboro.

When I call the fire department at the PBF Energy Paulsboro Refinery, and they acknowledge that the smoke is from their Greenwich Township facility, I am told, "It's nothing."

Well, that's a whole lot of nothing rising up into the sky. Is this another "whoops" from a refinery that seems to have New Jersey's OK to pollute on a regular basis?

I am a resident of West Deptford, and I and pay taxes and homeowners' fees to live here. If I burned materials that spewed black smoke into the sky, I wonder how long it would be considered "nothing."

Why are emissions from major industries regulated by one set of rules, and small businesses and individuals regulated by a much stricter set of rules? I have wondered this for some time now. Can anyone explain it to me?
