NEWFIELD -- Three residents were injured in a Sunday evening house fire, officials said.

Emergency crews, including Newfield police, fire department and ambulance corps, responded to a duplex in the 300 block of Catawba Avenue shortly before 9:30 p.m., where they found a fire in a second-floor bedroom.

Crews quickly contained and extinguished the blaze, according to Newfield Fire Department officials.

All tenants were able to escape the home, but a man and a juvenile were transported to Inspira Medical Center Elmer for smoke inhalation, Newfield police said.

County officials indicated that one of those victims also suffered burns to his hands and a third victim suffered hand burns.
