Entire school community works together to help Cathedral Pantry in Camden.

CLAYTON -- National Catholic Schools Week was Jan. 31 through Feb. 6 and the theme was, "Catholic Schools Communities of Faith, Knowledge, and Service." With this theme in mind, students at St. Michael the Archangel Regional School in Clayton assembled more than 200 brown bag lunches for those in need. Each lunch contained a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, cookies, and decorated lunch bag with messages from the students.

The Cathedral Pantry is a lunch program sponsored by the Oblates of St. Francis deSales at the Cathedral in Camden. Parishes from the Diocese, along with local supermarkets and bakeries, supply the pantry with food. From 300 to 400 men, women and children come for a brown bag lunch. Those in need are also offered dinner by the Cathedral Kitchen which is close to the Cathedral Pantry.

The Cathedral Pantry was chosen as the service project during National Catholic Schools Week because it allowed the entire school grades PreK3 through 8th grade to work together as a school community to help those in need.
