One town saw a 91 percent increase in average tax bills over a 15-year period.

GLOUCESTER COUNTY -- Residents in Wenonah paid the highest average property tax bill of $10,348 for 2015, according to the latest statewide data.

Woolwich Township was second highest, with an average of $10,160.

The lowest property tax bills can be found in Paulsboro, where the average was $3,783.

East Greenwich saw the highest percentage increase from 2014 to 2015, with a 6.93 percent average tax bill hike to $8,253. Next highest was Westville, with a 6.19 percent increase to $5,177.

Gloucester County's average tax bill rose 3.7 percent from 2014 to 2015, the second highest increase in the state, behind Burlington County.

Gloucester County officials attributed that increase largely to ratable decline and tax appeals in recent years.

The statewide average property tax bill rose to $8,353 in 2015, a 2.4 percent increase from the previous year. That was the fastest rate of increase since 2011.

Between 2000 and 2015, Woolwich's average tax bill rose 91.56 percent, the highest increase in the county for that period. Swedesboro's average tax bill rose 90.73 percent during that same time, though it has dropped 2.81 percent since 2010.
