Officials in Atlantic County will meet Tuesday to discuss plans for a centralized county 911 dispatch system, according to The Press of Atlantic City.
The county is considering building a $25 million dispatch center at Stockton University.
Some local officials have indicated they don't have enough information about the project, according to the report, and are hoping to learn more about the endeavor, including how much it will cost local taxpayers.
Atlantic County and Stockton officials reached a preliminary agreement for the dispatch center two years ago. At the time, officials indicated 19 of the county's 23 municipalities had expressed an interest in joining the project.
Gloucester County provides 911 dispatch services for five Atlantic County municipalities and just last week voted to extend its agreement with Buena Borough for an additional 10 years.
The borough will pay Gloucester County $134,088 a year to handle fire, EMS and police dispatching.
