A West Deptford police officer on his way to work witnessed an erratic driver get into an accident Monday afternoon.
WEST DEPTFORD TWP. -- A township police officer was commuting to work Monday afternoon when a driver who had been speeding crashed right in front of him.
The accident shut down the lefthand lane of I-295 at about 2:30 p.m. Chief Sam DiSimone said that a K-9 officer was heading to work on the northbound side near mile marker 21 at the time of the crash.
"One of our officers was coming to work and saw a car flying by him that proceeded to weave in and out of traffic," said DiSimone. The car collided with another vehicle almost immediately after being spotted by the officer.
One person was taken to the hospital, DiSimone said, but no serious injuries were reported. The identities of the motorists were not immediately available, and police did not say whether any charges had been filed.
