In the spring of 2014, Joe Federici, a long-term member of the Presbyterian Church at Woodbury, had an idea that would to provide outreach to Woodbury and the surrounding communities. While continuing to send mission groups to locations like Haiti and Honduras, Federici realized that people were in need of food and fellowship right here in South Jersey.

To accomplish this, Federici started raising money and asking for volunteers to create the first "Community Dinner." The first month, around 50 attended, which included about half church members. Word quickly spread, and within three months 150 community residents gathered together for a free meal.

The community dinner is always a little more special, when church and community members come together to give thanks for what they have. The community is invited to join the Presbyterian Church at Woodbury, 67 S. Broad St. in Woodbury on Thursday, Nov. 12 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. This month a full turkey dinner is planned -- turkey, mashed potatoes and other Thanksgiving-related menu items will be served.

The community dinner helps those in need of food and fellowship on the second Thursday of each month.

For more information regarding the monthly community dinner, contact Joe Federici at 856-340-9910.
