WENONAH -- The borough has hired a new full-time police chief after the previous one served for less than a year before his departure in late February 2014.

William Rogers, who had been the department's sergeant, was appointed by the borough council in late September.

Rogers, who served the borough for 21 years, takes the place of former chief Joseph Harrison. Harrison served as the department's leader for less than a year before the council unanimously voted to let him go.

Mayor John Dominy, who performed the swearing in of Rogers, said he is very excited to have him fill the position.

"I have all the confidence in the world," Dominy said. "I am happy to have him as our chief. I've known him for many, many years; he knows our community front and back and the council is 100 percent behind him. And we will support him in everything he does."
