GLASSBORO -- Rowan University students held a rally on Thursday coinciding with similar protests on campuses across the country demanding -- among other things -- tuition-free education.
The social media-based movement dubbed #MillionStudentMarch also called for the cancelation of all student loan debt and a $15 an hour minimum wage for all campus workers.
Students marched around the Rowan Chamberlain Student Center off Mullica Hill Road and then proceeded into the student center yelling chants like: "Hey, hey, ho, ho! Student tuition has got to go!"
The idea of making college tuition free as well as ridding student-loan debt has been heavily debated on both sides in recent months, evening reaching candidates in the 2016 presidential election.
Here's what some of you are saying:
If we just took 2% of the taxpayer money that's wasted on the US military and diverted it to higher education, then everyone could go to college tuition free. But our politicians would rather waste trillions of taxpayer dollars on senseless wars than on educating our population
I want a reimbursement for my college tuition! and I also want someone to find me a job that will pay for my loans and regular living expenses so that I can enjoy the life that I am entitled to! LOL If only they knew how hard it is ... Once you get a job you better stick with it, the market is so competitive and you definitely will not be making the money you "think" you are entitled to, welcome to poor people land
You are not entitled to anything - get a job and along with your parents pay for college OR don't go.
Spoiled, clueless brats. Work for your education. I paid for mind by working full time as a pot washer in the school cafeteria. We were happy to have those jobs. They were available to us because we weren't protesting for amnesty for illegals. Although there may be something to the idea that Americans do not want to do that kind of work. It sure looks like this country's youth does't want to do it. They want everything handed to them. They're entitled to to it.
I'm a millennial that paid for my education already and will go back for an advanced degree when financially ready. Not looking for an award, just tired of these complainers who can't simply suck-it-up and pay what they owe. Get over it. You signed the dotted line. No one forced you.
