WOOLWICH TWP. -- A section of Route 322 was closed for more than 10 hours Wednesday after a tractor trailer jackknifed and took out two utility poles, according to Woolwich Police.
The tractor trailer was headed west on Route 322 around 3 a.m. when the driver said he moved to the right to dodge the glare from an eastbound vehicle's high-beams.
The truck moved a little too far to the right and the right-side tires fell into a gully along the side of the road, explained Detective Chris Beckett. The vehicle took out a utility pole and then jackknifed, taking out a second pole.
Debris from the damaged poles hit another vehicle, but no injuries were reported to that motorist or the tractor trailer driver.
The roadway was closed down and traffic detoured in both directions between Stone Meetinghouse Road and Locke Avenue because of downed electric wires and remained that way until utility companies could respond to make repairs. The roadway reopened around 1:30 p.m.
The accident remains under investigation and no charges had been filed as of late Wednesday afternoon.
