CLAYTON -- On Oct. 16, St. Michael the Archangel Regional School students and Student Council raised over $1,200 on World Food Day. The children created a "Sidewalk of Hope" by using the quarters they have donated in conjunction with World Food Day.

Each student saved their quarters over the past few weeks for this event. The quarters were laid on the sidewalk of the school's campus to represent the starving children around the world in need of food.

For every dollar that was donated four nutritious meals will be provided for those in need. All money collected will benefit Cross Catholic Outreach. Cross Catholic Outreach is a non-profit relief and development organization founded in 2001 to help the "poorest of poor" around the world.

"We are blessed with so much yet there are children who have so little and are close to starving," said Keith Wittstock, Student Council Moderator. "We pride ourselves as a school with community service projects that truly help those in need."

St. Michael the Archangel Regional Schools serves students in Pre K3 through eighth grades. For information, call 856-881-0067 or visit smrsonline.com.
