BRIDGEWATER - A Williamstown woman was seriously injured during an early-morning crash Tuesday on Interstate 287 northbound when she lost control of her vehicle and slammed into a tree, State Police spokesman Sgt. Gregory Williams said.
Ursula Gantt, 39, suffered undisclosed injuries and was taken to Morristown Medical Center, said Williams.
The crash closed the inter roadway of the expressway for two hours, he said.
At 3:51 a.m., police received a report of a crash on Interstate 287 northbound near mile marker 20.7 in Bridgewater, said Williams.
Gantt was driving a 2016 Chevy Impala when she lost control of the vehicle for an unknown reason, ran off the roadway, struck a guardrail and then hit a tree, said Williams. She was the only person in the car and no other vehicles were involved in the crash, said Williams.

Wet conditions may have contributed to the crash, said Williams.
A preliminary report showed no signs of drugs or alcohol, said Williams. An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, he said.
