WTHS to dedicate tree in memory of deceased classmates

WTHS class of 1980 will dedicate a tree at entrance of the playhouse

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP -  Members of the Washington Township High School Class of 1980 will dedicate a weeping cherry tree at the entrance of the Play House at WTHS by the school's 11/12 wing on Friday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m.  The tree planting was spearheaded by the 1980 Class Reunion Committee as a way of honoring those members of the class who have passed. Some 403 individuals comprised the WTHS Class of 1980.

A plaque memorializing the deceased will be placed by the tree. The plaque reads "In memory of our Washington Township High School Classmates of 1980. You are forever in our hearts."

"Washington Township High School is a special place for us," Class Treasurer Julia Lynch Kelly said. "We thought that placing a memorial on school grounds was an appropriate way to celebrate our legacy and to honor the memories of those friends and classmates we have lost."

Deceased members of the WTHS Class of 1980 who will be remembered during the dedication ceremony include:

  • Dale Audrey Young

Classmates, friends and loved ones are invited to attend the dedication ceremony.
