Three others have also been charged with murder in the death of John McConnell
FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP-- One of four people charged for their involvement in a fatal robbery three years ago pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter, the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office said in a statement.
Jon O. Nordberg, 44, will likely be sentenced to 25 years at a hearing Nov. 18. Nordberg, who has been in custody since his arrest about a week after the robbery, will be required to serve 85 percent of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
Authorities say Nordberg knew John McConnell and was aware that he was disabled and receiving insurance annuity payments as the result of an auto accident. Nordberg admitted that he entered McConnell's Franklinville log cabin March 31, 2013, tied him up and struck him in the head. Two safes were later found missing from the home, where McConnell lived alone.
David J. Buss, 44, of Glassboro, Valerie J. Neissner, 50, of Sewell and Mantua Township resident Amanda C. Rickerd, 21, have all been charged with aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy, robbery and murder. Rickerd has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery but will not be sentenced until the charges against the other suspects have been resolved.
