SOUTH HARRISON TWP. -- Police are looking for the driver of a box truck who left the scene of an accident Tuesday afternoon, according to township police.
Paula Griesel, 60, of Pitman, was driving a Devereux Foundation minivan with five passengers onboard south on Route 45 around 1:30 p.m. when she approached the intersection with Monroeville Road.
The driver of a box truck traveling west on Monroeville entered the intersection even though Griesel had the right of way, police said.
Griesel swerved to avoid the truck, left the roadway and sideswiped a utility pole before coming to a stop.
No one was injured, police said. Passengers in the Chrysler minivan included two Devereux employees and three clients of the behavioral health organization.
Gloucester County EMS transported the clients to Inspira Medical Center Woodbury for evaluation.
The driver of the box truck stopped briefly before continuing west on Monroeville Road, Griesel told police.
The Devereux employees described the driver as a white male with dark scruffy hair and a beard. He appeared to look back at the crash before driving away, witnesses reported to police.
The box truck is described as blue with the words "Office Basics" in white lettering on the side.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact Cpl. Theresa Cabanas at 856-769-3737, ext. 115.
