Volunteers of America will distribute school supplies to those in need

WASHINGTON TWP. -- Cardinal Village announces its generous donation of $600 to Operation Backpack, on behalf of the Independent Living Resident Council. This donation will be added to the backpacks and school supplies the community received over the last few weeks, for Operation Backpack -- a Volunteers of America school supplies drive.

This is the third year in a row that Cardinal Village collected supplies, and this year there are more kids than ever that need assistance. The public was invited to bring backpacks filled with new school supplies for the VOA Delaware Valley Chapter, which will then distribute to local children. People were also encouraged to bring supplies and/or empty backpacks for Cardinal Village residents to fill.

"We're so thankful to everyone in the Sewell community who donated to Operation Backpack," said Karen Dixon, marketing director. "Our residents were thrilled to help the cause by filling empty backpacks with supplies for children. They love to get involved with community outreach programs and events, and knowing that these backpacks and supplies will go to children in need made them really happy."

Operation Backpack is a back-to-school drive, conducted by VOA, that asks the public to fill backpacks with school supplies, such as binders, pens, pencils and folders, to be donated to children in need. By providing these backpacks and other supplies, it relieves families of a financial burden and helps children start the school year with brand new items. Cardinal Village is an Independent and Assisted Living community located at 455 Hurffville-Cross Keys Road, Washington Township. For more information, please call Karen Dixon, marketing director, at 856-582-5292 or visit www.cardinalvillage.com.
