Barbara Essington writes that Democrats in power have no regard for "people like us."
To the Editor:
A recent Harris poll cited in the Washington Times states that 82 percent of Americans believe that the people running this country don't care what happens to them, and that 70 percent believe most people in power try to take advantage of people like them.
Similar feelings of detachment among regular Americans are expressed in Peggy Noonan's Aug. 11 Wall Street Journal column, "How Global Elites Forsake Their Countrymen." She writes that those at the top make decisions impacting our way of life without showing any interest in the effects of such actions.
Enactment of "Obamacare" is one example. Many who could not keep existing policies had to reapply and pay enormous premiums. Remember President Barack Obama's promise that you would be able to keep your coverage if you liked it?
Another such issue is open borders that allow refugees and people with evil intent to come into our country without due process. Care for immigrants who require social services must be provided for by the people already living in a community. It doesn't affect those at the top who control the policy.
Unemployment has placed many families in jeopardy. The rate is higher among black people. What has Obama done for them?
The national debt is about $19 trillion. Democrats in power have contributed greatly to this, and Hillary Clinton would add more debt with her endless promises if she becomes president. She would carry on Obama's policies, which have not worked.
The biased mainstream media have done us a great disservice in how they report or fail to report news about Obama and Mrs. Clinton.
It would appear that those in power want to take our God-given constitutional rights away from us. We ought to take their right to govern away from them at the ballot box.
