Lynda Sawyer writes that the insurer makes plenty of money by denying care to policyholders.
To the Editor:
This is in response to the recent article "Aetna abandons Obamacare marketplaces in all but 4 states," citing losses of $200 million from its Affordable Care Act policies in its last fiscal quarter alone:
"Don't cry for me, Argentina" - I mean, Aetna!
The reason I don't feel sorry for Aetna is that in February 2014, while in the midst of my treatments for battling cancer, the company doubled my premium (on a non-ACA individual policy) while reducing my coverage. This left me with many medical bills that were not covered, which I am still paying.
If I had the strength, I would have sued their butts!

Obama deals setback to race relations
To the Editor:
It is utterly despicable and irresponsible what President Barack Obama has done to race relations in this country.
In my opinion, he has undermined the authority of our police who have the almost impossible task of trying to contain the criminal element in our inner cities.
From the moment he took office, he has sided with the suspect rather than with the authority figures. In 2009, before all the facts were known, the president sided with a black college professor who was arrested for disorderly conduct after appearing to break into a home. The house turned out to be the professor's own residence.
His attitude has multiplied the risk for police by further embittering many in the black population against them. This is a recipe for anarchy. Is it deliberate?
Who knows the mind of this man whose only leadership skill appears to be creating chaos at home and abroad? When he finally exits the Oval Office, he should try taking a real job as a police officer with its inherent risks in inner-city Chicago. Hypocrisy exudes from every pore of his elitist body.
The traditional family consisting of father, mother, children, God and church, independent from government assistance, has disintegrated in our inner cities, leaving massive dependency and social disorder. Then we blame the police.
