Alfred Encarnacion has new poems forthcoming — including a second book
On Saturday, Aug. 20, at 7 p.m., the ANT Bookstore and Cafe, 345 Clifton Ave., in Clifton, continues its monthly series of poetry and music. The reading features Alfred Encarnacion from Woodbury. This free monthly series meets on the third Saturday evening of each month and features refreshments and an open microphone.
Alfred Encarnacion's poems, short stories, essays, and reviews have appeared in national journals -- such as Crab Orchard Review, Florida Review, Indiana Review, North American Review, The Paterson Literary Review, and the online Virtual Artists Collective -- and his work has been anthologized in "Blues Poems," "Identity Lessons," "The Open Boat: Poems from Asian America," and "Unsettling America."
Encarnacion has received an Academy of American Poets Award, the Wilson Foundation Scholarship Award, the Clarion University Creative Writing Contest Prize, a 2009 Poets House (NYC) Scholarship, and in 2015 was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in Poetry.
"The Outskirts of Karma," his debut collection of poetry, was published in the spring of 2012. He has new poems forthcoming in "American Arts Quarterly" and the Common Ground Review. "Ambassadors of the Silenced" is his second book of poetry.
Joe Weil is the featured poet for September. Joe will also provide music and he will be joined by Emily Vogel.
