County Library System honored for 'Librarian by Appointment Service'
MULLICA HILL -- Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger and Freeholder Lyman Barnes announce that the National Association of Counties (NACo) has granted the Gloucester County Library System (GCLS) the 2016 Achievement Award for its program titled "Librarian by Appointment Service."
Freeholder Director Damminger, said "The Gloucester County Library is always expanding and enhancing their services, programs and technology infrastructure to ensure they are staying current and connected with the needs of the community. This national achievement award is an esteemed honor and reinforces that librarians are an essential resource tool both traditionally and technically."
Freeholder Lyman Barnes said that the librarian by appointment service allows GCLS patrons to schedule a one-time session of up to one hour with a librarian.
"You will receive personalized assistance with your information needs and instruction in how to use the library's resources. The librarian will advise you on research strategy and the appropriate resources, so you have the skills to do your own research," said Barnes.
Barnes, who serves as liaison to the Gloucester County Library System, said "The librarian by appointment program can assist you with job search resources, resumes, researching homework or term papers, business and market research and much more. This service is a great tool for our library customers of all ages. And, we have great librarians."
To schedule an appointment with a librarian call the reference desk at the Gloucester County Library at 856-223-6050 or by email at reference@gcls.org<mailto:reference@gcls.org. Appointments must be made a few days in advance and a parent or other responsible adult must accompany children.
