The primary election for the Ward 1 council seat ended in a tie, with the candidates receiving 478 votes each.
MONROE TWP. -- The executive committee of the township's Democratic Party has selected its candidate to represent the party in November after a tie vote between incumbent Marvin G. Dilks Jr. and challenger Richard Coe in last week's primary.
The committee voted Monday night to elect Coe as the candidate for the Ward 1 council seat, according to a press release issued by Chris Milam, chairman of the Democratic Party/Executive Committee in Monroe.
The winner of this race will face Republican William Blong in November.
Milam said Coe previously served on council several years ago.
The vote following Tuesday's primary was a tie at 478 votes each.
