Driver ejected in Route 55 crash identified

Police are still investigating the cause of the one-vehicle accident.

ELK TWP. -- A woman is listed in stable condition after she was ejected from her vehicle in a one-car crash on Route 55 Monday morning, state police said.

Abigail Jimenez-Carmona, 26, of Bridgeton, was driving southbound near milepost 44.1 around 5 a.m. when her car sideswiped the left guardrail. The vehicle traveled across both lanes and hit the right guardrail, ejecting the driver.

She was airlifted to Cooper University Hospital, Camden, were police say she was stable as of Monday afternoon.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Seven people have died in accidents on Route 55 so far this year. 

The 40-mile state highway runs from Deptford Township in Gloucester County to Maurice River Township in Cumberland County.
