Modeled after Diner en Blanc, tonight's White Table Gala is an event coordinated by Main Street Woodbury, Inc. to raise funds to support the mission of MSW.

However, if you plan to go you'd better prepare to be a little flexible.

Guests for the 6-10 p.m. event are requested to wear all white, pack their own food and beverages, and set up their own table and chairs in an area to be announced one hour prior to the start.

The location will be revealed by email and the MSW website at 5 p.m. Here's a clue: The White Table Gala - labeled a "chic picnic" -  will be held within the Woodbury city limits. Featured will be a DJ and live music.

Started by Frenchman Francois Pasquier for a few friends about 30 years ago, the gala now brings together more than 10,000 guests annually internationally. In 2013, a record 15,000 attended. The Eiffel Tower was one of the venues.

MSW is an all-volunteer, non-profit, urban revitalization  comprised of residents, merchants, property owners and interested citizens who are dedicated to breathing new life into the city's commercial district.

Among the attendees: Retired Underwood-Memorial (Inspira) physician Dr. John W. "Bill" Holdcraft, one of the most active 95-year-olds in captivity.

Received an email from Kitty Shryock Hood, a family genealogist who happens to be my seventh cousin "If I have you placed correctly."

She does. Yes, I'm the son of Wilbur Henicle Shryock.

Our connection, Kitty reports,  is through our mutual great grandparents.

"I have found that we (Shryocks) are thick on the ground in this country," Kitty says.
