MONROE TWP. -- A man who made threats, fired shots and barricaded himself in his home was arrested Saturday after a lengthy standoff with a SWAT team, according to township police.
Police responded to a home on the 1000 block of Mannington Drive in the Willow Woods development around 3 a.m. Saturday for a report of a resident making threats against other occupants of the property.
The others had exited the home by the time police arrived. Because of the nature of the threats made, Gloucester County's SWAT team was called to the scene, police said.
The man fired several "random shots" within the home during the standoff, which lasted several hours, according to authorities.
After negotiating and "deploying other tactics," the man was taken into custody without incident.
He was transported to a local hospital for a mental evaluation. Charges are pending, police said.
