A Memorial Day ceremony will be held Sunday at the Gloucester County Veterans Cemetery.
MONROE TWP. -- County workers, freeholders and volunteers visited the Gloucester County Veterans Cemetery on Friday afternoon to place American flags on each gravesite.
The annual tradition was in preparation for Memorial Day weekend observances.
A Memorial Day ceremony will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at the cemetery.
The program, which is attended by more than 400 veterans, their families and friends, will include an hour-long ceremony, complete with a rifle salute and playing of Taps.
These veterans help lay soldiers to rest
After the program is over, families will be given a rose to place on the graves of their loved ones.
This year, two veteran organization monuments -- for the 82 Airborne Division Association and Jewish War Veterans of the U.S. -- will be dedicated along Memorial Walk.
The ceremony is open to anyone. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and arrive early.
