Julia Quinones was presented a $500 check for being an outstanding music student
Julia Quinones of Deptford High School, daughter of Grace and Alfredo Quinones, is the 2016 Shades of Harmony Scholarship recipient. A check for $500 was presented to Julia as an outstanding student of music to further her study at Rowan University.
This year, Julia received the honor of being inducted into the prestigious All South Jersey Choir. Her music teacher describes her as having a natural ease for performing which has led to her participating in all school plays and musicals for all four years.
She excels in written and aural music theory and has a good understanding of music and what makes a vocal performance successful. She has sung in the school's premier vocal and concert choirs all four years of High School.
Julia is characterized as a mature, responsible, respectful and conscientious person who continually challenges herself and goes beyond what is expected of her.
During her high school tenure, Julia has been active as an honor student, as a Cadet Ensign in the U.S. Naval Jr. Officer Corp, as a Black Belt member of the Martial Arts team, and as captain of the field hockey team.
