HARRISON TWP. -- Rachel Hall, the township resident and Temple University student who was hit by a car and seriously injured a week before her graduation last year, will be walking to accept her degree in the school's May graduation ceremony her mother announced Sunday.

Hall was preparing to accept her criminal justice degree and leave to attend a Washington D.C. police academy last spring. A week before that graduation, however, while riding her bike in North Philadelphia, she was hit by a car driven by a teenager with a learner's permit.

She suffered severe leg and head injuries and was still on life support when her mother accepted her diploma at Temple's graduation.

It's been a long road to recovery for the Clearview High School graduate, but a year after the accident, she is up and walking and will be participating in Temple's ceremony this year.

In a post on a Facebook page titled "Rachel Hall Temple Strong," which has been keeping friends and family members updated on Rachel's progress, her mother Kathy Hall wrote about the new developments Sunday evening.

Hall will walk during the Liberal Arts graduation at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 5. She is working to be accepted again to the Washington DC Metropolitan Police Academy and working in a career helping victims of human trafficking, her mother wrote.

Rashan Roberts, the 18-year-old who hit Hall turned himself in after the accident, claimed he left the scene because he panicked. He was sentenced in 2015 to 11 and a half to 23 months in prison and five years in prison for the crash.

Notes of congratulations can be sent to Rachel Hall, PO Box 307, Mullica Hill, NJ 08062.
