Melvin Owens pleaded guilty to sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
WOODBURY -- A Glassboro man who previously pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a boy younger than 13 was sentenced to 11 years in prison on the charge Monday.
Melvin A. Owens, 46, was also sentenced to a concurrent six-year term for an endangering charge stemming from the creation and possession of an image on an unclothed 9-year-old girl, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office.
He pleaded guilty to both charges in November of 2015 and has remained in jail since his Jan. 12, 2014 arrest.
Superior Court Judge Robert P. Becker also ordered Owens to pay $660 to the family of the victims to cover copays for therapy, that he has no contact with the victims and that he undergo a substance abuse evaluation in prison.
He will have to register as a sex offender under Megan's Law upon his release.
