The quartet has been praised for its special combination of passion and elegance

Music at Bunker Hill presents the Johannes String Quartet on April 3 at 3 p.m. Johannes String Quartet brings together Soovin Kim; the assistant principal second violinist of the Boston Symphony, Julianne Lee; the principal violist of the Philadelphia Orchestra, C.J. Chang; and former principal cellist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and Peter Stumpf, currently on faculty at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University.

The quartet will perform Mozart's celebrated String Quartet in d minor, K 421, and Beethoven's profoundly beautiful String Quartet in e minor, op. 59 no.2. They will be joined by violist William Frampton and cellist Priscilla Lee for Brahms' bright and lush Sextet in B flat Major, op. 18. Chamber music enthusiasts will note the program items to be perennial favorites, and those new to the music will be lucky to hear these pieces for the first time performed by such eminent artists.

Bunker Hill Presbyterian Church, 330 Greentree Road in Washington Township offers a comfortable, cozy venue with fabulous musicians and exceptional acoustics. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $20 (adult), $10 (student). Driving directions and ticket purchase can be found at www.musicatbunkerhill.org. Phone for information 856-494-6077.
