Washington Township teacher will study genome sequencing at University of Milwaukee
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP - Washington Township High School science teacher Mary Howard has been selected to participate in a summer fellowship at the University of Milwaukee, School of Engineering.
She will study the latest research in the field of genome sequencing and personalized medicine and will be working with a group of teachers from around the country to strategize on the use of molecular models in instruction. The goal of the fellowship is to aid teachers in increasing student understanding in the area of genetics.
As part of the fellowship, Howard will be receiving molecular models for which to further develop the district's biology curriculum. She also will be able to return during the summer of 2017 for continued study in the initiative.
