MONROE TWP. -- COPS Monitoring, a nationwide provider of wholesale alarm monitoring invites the public to be "Hometown Heroes" during its American Red Cross community blood drive at its national headquarters located at 1041 Glassboro Road, Suite F2 in Williamstown on Monday, Sept. 28 from 1 to 6 p.m.
Hometown heroes come in all shapes and sizes. They don't wear capes or special suits; their badge of honor is the bandage that shows they gave the "gift of life." "We believe that many people have the desire to give back to the community, but may not know how to get involved or have a lot of time to volunteer," says Jim McMullen, COPS Monitoring's president and COO. "We're opening our doors on Sept. 28, and invite the public to become Hometown Heroes by donating about an hour of their time to give a unit of blood."
The American Red Cross reports that the need for blood donations is constant. Someone in the U.S. needs blood every 2 seconds and a single car accident victim can require as many as 100 units. "We hope we can help raise awareness of the continuous need for blood and platelet donations and inspire like-minded people to join us to help make a difference in our community," continued McMullen.
