Norcross got to see first hand the valuable hands-on experience GCIT students receive
DEPTFORD TWP. - Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month is an annual celebration held in February to highlight and raise awareness of the critical role that CTE has in preparing students for a rapidly changing workplace and world.
In celebration of CTE Month Congressman Donald Norcross toured the programs at the Gloucester County Institute of Technology (GCIT).
Norcross saw several classrooms, highlighting the curriculum and equipment specific for each program. Through the support of the state and Perkins grant funding, vocational schools, can continue to keep up with the current workforce to ensure the machines and equipment used are state-of-the-art.
Norcross got to see first-hand young people getting valuable hands-on experience in a wide array of specialized fields, from welding and electrical work, to baking and pastry arts, and even television production.
Norcross also stressed the value of attending our state colleges and encouraged students to look at all of their options in New Jersey, including participating in internships, apprenticeships and joining the workforce.
