Winters advocates for equality in educational, political, social and economic opportunities.

Loretta Winters, president of the Gloucester County NAACP and second vice president of the N.J. State NAACP Conference, was selected as an "Honoree" for her impact on her South Jersey community in the area of civil rights.

The 6ABC WPVI-TV Community Advisory Board will recognize Winters and others at its annual Black History Month Awards Ceremony tonight, at the View in Philadelphia.

The NAACP raises money for scholarships, provides laptop computers to promising students in need, and fights to protect voting rights and an end to gun violence. It offers support to families of homicide victims, women's equality, and works to ensure more diversity in law enforcement, education, and the public and private sectors in general.

The inclusion of a noted South Jersey civil rights advocate recognizes the individual pioneering spirit of Loretta Winters and her positive work.

The NAACP has set out to make a difference in making South Jersey a great place to live and raise a family for people of all backgrounds. Winter states that she will accept this recognition, not only on behalf of the growing people of color in South Jersey, but on behalf of all the residents of South Jersey, regardless of race or ethnicities.
