Police say the driver led them on a chase through multiple towns.
LOGAN TWP. -- A Pennsylvania man was arrested on drunken driving and eluding charges after he allegedly fled from police, authorities said.
Police tried to stop a vehicle for speeding on Route 322 on Feb. 7, but the driver refused the obey.
Officers pursued the motorist, identified as Michael Cress, of Morton, Pennsylvania, through Woolwich and Harrison townships before apprehending him near the Glassboro border,
police said.
Cress was charged with driving while intoxicated, eluding police, refusal to submit to a breath test and numerous motor vehicle offenses.
He was placed in Salem County Correctional Facility on $15,000 bail.
Other Logan Township crime news reported between Jan. 22-31:
- Officers investigated the theft of prescription medication from an employee's duffel bag at AMBC Corp. on Heron Drive. No suspects were identified.
- A Woodbury woman reported the theft of $500 from her vehicle which was being stored at a Cedar Swamp Road business.
- Following a motor vehicle stop for an unexpired registration, a 19-year-old woman from Upland, Pennsylvania, and a 23-year-old woman from Chester, Pennsylvania, were arrested for providing false information to police in an attempt to hinder their own apprehension. Both were processed and released pending court.
- A Lafayette Drive resident reported that on Jan. 4 and 5 her credit card was used by someone else in Mantua Township and Wilmington, Delaware. Total charges were estimated at $1,400.
- While investigating a suspicious person complaint at UPS on Birch Creek Road, police arrested a 30-year-old Pennsauken man on an outstanding warrant. He was processed and released pending a new court date.
- An employee at UPS on Birch Creek Road reported that her wallet, containing her driver's license, Social Security card, debit card and $250 cash, was stolen from her locker at work. She also reported that the thief used her debit card to buy $55 worth of products at a Wawa. Surveillance footage and electronic transaction data didn't reveal a suspect.
- Camden County Police recovered an ATV previously reported stolen from Springer Lane in Logan Township. The vehicle was returned to its owner.
Crime news reported Feb. 5-11:
- A 41-year-old Carneys Point Township man was arrested on outstanding warrants after a motor vehicle stop and turned over to Carneys Point police in default of $1,000 bail.
- Following a report of a dispute at a Beckett Road home, police charged a 23-year-old Logan man with assault and a 21-year-old Sewell woman with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of hypodermic needles.
- Following a motor vehicle stop, police arrested a 37-year-old Pennsville Township man on an outstanding larceny warrant from Alabama. He was placed in Salem County Correctional Facility to await extradition to Alabama.
- A Springer Road resident reported that her vehicle was burglarized overnight between Feb. 10-11 and prescription medication was stolen.
- Following a motor vehicle stop, Tresean Davis, of Pennsville, was charged with possession of crack cocaine, possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, failure to surrender CDS to police, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a hypodermic syringe, providing false information to police and numerous motor vehicle violations. He was placed in Salem County Correctional Facility on $5,000 full cash bail.
