The shift manager at a Wendy's restaurant admitted she conspired in a 2013 robbery.
WOODBURY -- A Clayton woman faces four years in prison after she pleaded guilty last week to conspiring to rob a Wendy's restaurant in 2013, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office.
Erica Albert, 29, worked as a shift manager in the Woodbury Heights eatery and conspired with Marvis O. Jones, 29, of Sicklerville to rob the business on Nov. 24, 2013, authorities said.
Albert's sentencing was pushed back to August because of a "medical condition," according to the prosecutor's office.
Jones, who pleaded guilty in January, shot out a window and entered the business after it had closed for the evening.
He told "terrified" employees, "I know you've got four (cash) tills," prosecutors said previously. Jones also knew there were several panic buttons that could be pressed for emergencies.
Based on that information, authorities quickly determined that the crime was an inside job.
Their suspicions were further aroused when Albert told police that the robber had thrown her on a just-washed floor. Police noted that the floor was still wet when they arrived but Albert's clothing was not.
In entering his guilty plea to first-degree robbery by threat, Jones said Albert didn't know he had a gun until the robbery began.
Albert was arrested in February 2014 and charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, robbery and theft. She was freed on $50,000 bail.
Jones was arrested in Virginia in March 2014 and extradited to New Jersey. He faces 8 years in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced on Friday. He remains jailed on $200,000 bail in the meantime.
