WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP - Washington Township High School graduate and current varsity girls basketball coach Jennifer Natale recently learned she will be inducted into the Gloucester County Sports Hall of Fame.
The former Minutemaids standout will be among 14 athletes and coaches honored at the 36th annual Induction banquet on March 29, at Auletto Caterers. Also receiving hall of fame laurels is Ralph Saquella, a long-time guidance counselor at WTHS who earned distinction for his basketball coaching career at Gloucester Catholic High School and Glassboro State College.
Natale is a four-year letter winner who scored 1,033 points in her career, she was a three-time All-Olympic Conference selection, a three-time All-Group IV First Team and and a two-time All-South Jersey First Team pick as a player from 1992-95. She was inducted into the Washington Township High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2005. She was awarded a full athletic scholarship to Fairfield University in Connecticut.
Natale, a fourth-grade teacher at Bells Elementary School, served as a WTHS girls basketball assistant coach from 2002-06 before taking over head coaching duties from the 2006-07 season.
The rest of the 2016 class to be inducted into the Gloucester County Sports Hall of Fame includes:
- Tom Iacovone, former Gloucester Catholic football coach and President of the Adam Taliaferro Foundation.
- Roy Harmon (Pitman), long-time Pitman Parks and Recreation Director.
- John Ridinger (West Deptford), former football and track star.
- Renee DeFeo (Clayton), track and field standout.
- Steve DePasquale (Rowan College at Gloucester County), long-time softball coach who has compiled the most career wins in school history.
- Bill Hinman (Paulsboro), a standout wrestler and football star.
- Nancy Cunard (Woodbury), one of the top female athletes at Woodbury High in the late 1950s.
- Carla Camino (Glassboro), a former softball star at Glassboro and Rutgers University.
- Art Smith (Delsea), a standout football player in the early 1960s.
- Art Kollmeier (Clearview), a former football coach at several programs.
- Ben Liles (Kingsway), one of New Jersey's top track and football stars of the early 1990s.
- Michele Maslowski (Williamstown), a top women's basketball player for both Williamstown and Drexel University.
