A registered sex offender who was recently charged with sex assault was indicted for violating conditions of a previous sentence.
WOODBURY -- A registered sex offender who was charged with aggravated sexual assault in December was indicted this week in connection with another case.
Abdul Stanback, 37, of Paulsboro, was indicted on a third-degree charge of violating conditions of a special sentence.
He allegedly failed to report to his parole officer, failed to reside at a parole-approved address, changed addresses without the approval of the parole office, purchased a controlled dangerous substance, did not attend counseling and did not submit to drug testing, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office.
Stanback was convicted of sexual assault in 2002, according to the state sex offender registry. He is listed as a Tier 2, moderate risk, offender.
The alleged violations described in the indictment occurred between June 2013 and July 2015.
As for his most recent charges, Stanback is accused of breaking into a Greenwich Township home on Dec. 11 and assaulting a 51-year-old woman. The victim suffered neck and rib injuries in the early morning assault.
Stanback was described by police as a former acquaintance of the victim.
He was arrested later the same day in Paulsboro.
Stanback is currently jailed in Salem County Correctional Facility on $130,000 bail.
