2 gas stations robbed in 2 weeks | West Deptford crimelog

Two men were charged with attempted robbery after allegedly breaking into two different West Deptford apartments.

WEST DEPTFORD TWP. -- Two Citgo gas stations in the township were broken into and robbed within two weeks, according to West Deptford Police.

Officers responded to a burglar alarm at the Red Bank Avenue gas station on Dec. 23 where they found the front glass door had been broken and an undisclosed amount of scratch off tickets, as well as the cash drawer, were stolen. 

Two men were seen in surveillance video committing the burglary and driving off in a black vehicle.

An employee at the Citgo station on Route 45 reported that he found a window to the business broken on Jan. 4. Surveillance video revealed that two males in all dark clothing, one with his face covered, were responsible. Multiple cartons of cigarettes and cash were reported stolen in the incident. 

Anyone with information about either robbery is asked to call West Deptford police. 

Other recent police activity in West Deptford:

- Officers arrested Charles Vaughan, 55 of Westville, for an outstanding warrant and possession of PCP and drug paraphernalia after being called to a Georgia Avenue residence for an unwanted person complaint on Dec. 22. He was released pending court.

- A motor vehicle stop on Route 130 led to the arrest of a 30-year-old Westville man on Dec. 22. The individual gave officers false information and was charged with hindering apprehension. He was issued a summons and released pending court. 

- Virginia Darby, 60 of National Park, was charged with driving under the influence after police received a complaint of a motor vehicle being operated carelessly on Crown Point Road. She was released pending court.

- On Dec. 24 a Westwood Court Apartments resident reported hearing someone banging on the front window and then forcing theirway into the front door wanting to speak to the resident of the apartment who was not there. The suspects allegedly threatened the occupant's life and fled the scene. The first suspect is described as a black male in his late 30s between 5-feet, 6-inches and five-feet seven-inches tall, 180-pounds with a beard. He was wearing a Lakers baseball hat, jeans and a dark shirt. The second suspect is described as a black male in his early 20s, between five-feet, ten-inches and five-feet, 11-inches tall, 130 pounds and wearing a blue jacket and baseball hat. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.

- Two individuals were charged with possession of crack cocaine and possession of paraphernalia on Dec. 23 when police saw a suspicious vehicle parked on Red Bank Avenue.

- Brian A. Rice, 31 of Marlton and Angela M. Micarek, 31 of National Park, were both released pending court.

 - A Dec. 27 motor vehicle stop n Crown Point Rod led to the arrest of Ashley Holmes, 22 of Williamston. Holmes was charged with driving under the influence, issued multiple summonses and released pending court.

- Two Blackwood residents were arrested and charged with hindering apprehension during a Dec. 27 traffic stop. Both were released pending court. 

- Police charged a 32-year-old West Deptford resident with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia on Dec. 28 when officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked at Heather Ridge Apartment complex.

- Officers were called to a dispute on Oak Street on Dec. 28. Stephen W. King, 48 of West Deptford, was arrested and charged with simple assault. He posted bail and was released pending court.

- Joseph P. Owens Jr., 24 of West Deptford, was charged with driving under the influence after his vehicle struck a utility pole on Dec. 28. He was released pending court.

- Officers conducted a pedestrian stop on Dec. 29 of a man wanted out of Camden County. Abraham Mitchell, 26 of West Deptford, was charged with contempt, possession of heroin and failure to surrender CDS. He was turned over to the Camden County Jail.

- Herbert F. Snyder III, 53 of West Detford, was charged with driving under the influence after a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Jessup Road and Friars Boulevard on Dec. 30. He was processed and released pending court.

- A 29-year-old West Deptford resident was charged with possession of CDS paraphernalia on Dec. 31. She was issued a summons and released pending court.

- Police were called to a shoplifting complaint at the CVS store on Route 45 on Jan. 1. A description of the male subject was provided and officers arrested William L. Boone, 47 of Paulsboro, who was charged with defiant trespassing and two counts of shoplifting. He was held in Salem County Jail in default of bail.

- Officers responding to a disturbance at a Holly Drive residence on Jan. 1 arrested Stephanie Kartscher, 33. She was charged with simple assault and released pending court.

- An assault on Jan. 3 at a Ford Avenue resident led to the arrest of Sheila Ahern, 41 of West Deptford, who was charged with simple assault and released pending court.

- Frederick W. Mills, 60 of West Deptford, was charged with theft, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest when police were called to a burglary in progress on Cumberland Avenue on Jan. 3.
