TRENTON - Arthur Barclay was sworn in on Jan. 12 as a member of the New Jersey General Assembly. Assemblyman Barclay previously served as a Camden City Council Member.
"I'm thrilled to have the ability to give back to my home city of Camden, and now my greater home in the Fifth District as well. I have dedicated much of my career to creating a positive environment for Camden's youth to grow up in, and as assemblyman I plan to extend that work into our entire district" said the assemblyman, adding "there are many different towns with diverse interests in the Fifth Legislative District, and I look forward to being able to work on behalf of residents of each of these municipalities."
Assemblyman Barclay will be joining Assemblywoman Patricia Egan Jones as representatives of the Fifth Legislative District, which covers parts of Camden and Gloucester counties.
"Arthur has shown his strong commitment to giving back to others through all of the work he does to serve Camden's youth" said Assemblywoman Jones. "I cannot think of a better representative for our community than this selfless and hardworking young man, and I look forward to being able to work alongside him."
Born and raised in the City of Camden, and a graduate of Camden High School, after graduating from the University of Memphis Assemblyman Barclay returned to Camden and serves as a volunteer coach for the high school's Men's Basketball team. He also volunteers with the Below the Rim Basketball Program, South Jersey Rising Stars, and the Boys and Girls Clubs.
