Eliseo Avila, 45, of a Newfield address, was indicted over the summer for an incident that occurred on Jan. 31, 2015. Police officers in Monroe Township found a man running across the Black Horse Pike. The man told police that he and Avila had gotten into an argument at 3J's Auto Sales, and that Avila had begun chasing him with a mechanical knife. Investigators later recovered a knife from the back of Avila's pickup truck.

Avila was charged with fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and third-degree aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was scheduled for an arraignment and status conference in September, but never made his appearance, the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office said.

The suspect is described 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing 190 pounds. He has brown eyes and brown hair.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the defendant should not attempt to apprehend him. Instead, contact the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office at (856) 384-5643 or GCPO Sgt. Ron Koller at 609-929-6348.
