An Elk Township police officer was responding to an emergency call when his patrol car collided with a pickup truck early Friday, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office.
ELK TWP. -- A township police officer was responding to an emergency call when his patrol car collided with a pickup truck early Friday, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office.
Class II Special Officer Jacob Curtis was making a U-turn in the area of 151 Buck Road around 1 a.m. when his car collided broadside with a pickup truck, authorities said.
Curtis was transported to Cooper University Hospital, Camden. Earlier reports indicated he was in stable condition.
The driver of the truck, who has not been identified, was not injured.
A blood sample was taken from the pickup driver to determine if alcohol consumption was involved in the crash, according to the prosecutor's office.
Authorities have not released information about the call Curtis was responding to at the time of the accident or provided details about the extent of his injuries.
