WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP - On Nov. 21, the Washington Township High School National Honor Society made its annual delivery to Stockings for Soldiers of Delaware.

Thirteen NHS members joined adviser Bernadette Bogacki in delivering approximately:

  • 1,500 packages of ramen noodles;
  • Two large boxes of toothbrushes, toothpaste, Chapstick and other small toiletry items;
  • Two large boxes of candy;
  • Two large boxes of fruit snacks;
  • Four large boxes of canned tuna/chicken;
  • One box of doggie treats for the K9 soldiers;
  • $1,015 to be used for shipping costs (through a WTHS staff dress down and Washington Township Education Association donation).

In addition, the NHS stayed from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. sorting and stuffing stockings that were shipped to troops in mid-December. Each year, this organization ships roughly 10,000 stockings to our troops, with an additional 1,000 stockings prepared for the K9s. This requires close to $20,000 in shipping costs.

This is WTHS NHS's eighth year contributing and supporting Stockings for Soldiers. The NHS greatly appreciates the support of the high school and the community.
